In the heart of Sydney, Australia, the International Convention Centre (ICC) opened in 2016, located at the iconic Darling Harbour on Cockle Bay.
With a total exhibition capacity of 35,000 sqm, ICC features multipurpose spaces, leading technology and a striking contemporary design. It is Australia's first and largest fully integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment centre and has become a reference of innovation, learning and entertainment.
ICC is the most high-profile construction in Sydney in 2016, hence, high expectations were set from leading electrical contractors Stowe Australia and Fredon, the NSW state Government and the global construction group Lendlease, to award the standby power system design and installation contract to a company with the industry know how and project management skills to complete on time and on budget. Client required a power system that could be supported not only during the commissioning and handover stage but well into the future.
With proven tracking records to supply uninterruptible power solution for large scale projects worldwide, such as Dubai Festival City in UAE, data center for e-commerce giant Alibaba in China, we have garnered renown across the globe. Being a vertical manufacturer, HIMOINSA has the knowledge, experience and capabilities to provide full turnkey solution from engineering design, manufacture, assembly, all the way to installation and commissioning. We at HIMOINSA Australia has representation on both the east and west coast, providing excellent product support, engineering expertise, transient response of the engine and alternator combination along with paralleling control systems.
Both HIMOINSA and Generator Power – our official distributor in Australia were thrilled to be awarded the ICC project. Not only because it acknowledged our capability as a leading power solution provider in Australia market, but also the opportunity to contribute our part to ICC that would benefit the society for generations.
The engineering design of the backup power solution for ICC includes installation of two HMW-1135 T5 and one HMW-910 T5 HIMOINSA power generators that provide standby power to six 11kV substations, inclusive of a power management system spanning the entire site and controlling load shedding of mechanical plant, lighting systems, fire systems, theaters, exhibition halls, general light and power.
Customized engineering design was applied in HIMOINSA power generators to achieve best performance. The following are some of the highlights among the special configuration features:
- 50ºC air on temperature radiators with high external static capabilities for engine cooling
- G3 transient response for both load on and load off.
- Engine capable of 100% load impact without stalling.
- Alternator F class temperature rise.
From 700kVA to 3,000kVA in open skid and 20 ft. or 40 ft. soundproofed containers
