To provide emergency backup power to facilities such as Automatic Feeding System, Exhaust Cone Fan System, and Hatchery Operations in four Minh Du poultry breeding farms.
In the event of a power outage, generator sets are able to start automatically and immediately to guarantee reliable power supply in farms’ mission-critical operations, ensuring overall poultry welfare 24/7.
17 units of open-skid generator sets, in total 9 MW of emergency power are installed in four poultry farms. With a rapid response, these generator sets can start up within a few seconds to ensure non-stop power supply. The well-designed power system logic control (e.g.: load sharing, load shedding, load increase…) enables automatic synchronisation and highest standby backup power to the load demand. These gensets can run as long as necessary at 100% load, operating individually or in parallel to offer efficient power to each facility in the event of any grid outage.
Minh Du Poultry Breeding Co., Ltd is the national leading poultry producer in Vietnam. Its recent developments involves a 11.4 million USD high-tech poultry plant that extends a total scale of nearly 500,000 m2, with a capacity of 30 million commercial chickens per year.

In this new age of technology, reliable backup power is absolutely an essential when it comes to modern poultry breeding business. Increasing number of automated equipment are running on continuous power, taking care of feeding, cleaning, inspection, harvesting and processing tasks. The quality and well-being of poultry depend on reliable and consistent power supply, which makes it extremely important to have high quality generator sets with fast response at all times.
Vietnam has a tropical climate with high humidity. During the rainfall filled monsoon season, Central Vietnam where the chicken farms located, is often pounded by consecutive tropical storms and typhoons, which sometimes brings widespread flooding and landslides. And due to business nature and large scale, the poultry farms are usually located in rural area, resulting in unstable power supply from the mains and unexpected power outage.
Power failure can result in massive and severe bird losses within minutes, quick response of generator sets is what matters the most during a power outage. Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) are applied in HIMOINSA generator sets to start up the engine automatically within a few seconds.
In order to optimise the power supply, HIMOINSA team customised a logic control configuration that enables load sharing, load shedding, load increase, and supplies highest backup power according to the load demands. HIMOINSA gensets can run independent or in parallel, for as long as necessary at 100% load, offer non-stop power to each facility in the event of any grid outage.
To achieve most efficient and effective power, HIMOINSA generator sets are synchronized with existing generator sets in the farms.
The controller that synchronizes the units are configured to detect fluctuations in the grid power supply. If the grid power drops below optimum levels, the control system will automatically manage the units output to compensate for the fluctuation, thereby guaranteeing a stable power supply.
To reduce the risk of water ingress, generator sets are installed on a raised platform to avoid the flood prone area.
